alchemie's review: "This was my second attempt at The Wheel of Time, and I just ran out of steam in about the same place that I did the first time I tried to read it. It's not that I actively dislike the books, I just can't muster the energy to keep reading them. The plot is interesting, the world-building is great, but I can't muster any emotion for these characters. I don't get their humor, I don't get their personalities, I don't get their complete and utter lack of ability to deal with people of the opposite gender, I just don't get any of them at all. And I'm sick of reading phrases so often repeated they feel like the punch line of a tired joke. Yeah, yeah, Aes Sedai faces are ageless and Nynaeve tugs her braid a lot. This isn't building depth or interest, it's just repeating the exact same description a million times. Oh well. I guess it's just not the series for me."
